The best marketing for most tradies isn't advertising. It's being easy to find on Google, having more reviews than the next business, and staying in touch with customers you've already done good work for.
Online
- Complete your Google Business Profile. It's free and often your biggest source of calls. See the checklist.
- Ask every customer for a review by SMS before you leave.
- Post job photos weekly on your profile.
- Build a page for each service you want more of.
- Add suburb pages for the areas you most want to work in.
- Reply to every review, good and bad.
Offline
- Sign your vehicle with your name, trade, phone and website.
- Leave a card with a review QR code after every job.
- Ask for referrals when a customer says thanks.
- Partner with complementary trades: electricians and air conditioning installers, plumbers and tilers, builders and landscapers.
Repeat work
- Send reminders for annual servicing, smoke alarm checks or gutter cleans.
- Look after property managers. One good property manager can send work every week.
