Google can only rank pages it has indexed. New sites and new pages can take days or weeks to appear. You can't force Google to index a page, but you can make it easy to find and worth indexing.
Check if a page is indexed
- Use the URL Inspection tool in Google Search Console.
- Or search
site:yourdomain.com.auon Google for a rough view.
Steps that help
- Set up Search Console and submit your sitemap.
- Request indexing for important new pages with URL Inspection.
- Link to new pages from your menu, home page or related pages.
- Make sure the page isn't blocked by robots.txt or a "noindex" setting.
- Make each page genuinely useful and different from your other pages.
Common reasons pages aren't indexed
- "Discovered, currently not indexed": Google knows about the page but hasn't crawled it yet. Internal links help.
- "Crawled, currently not indexed": Google looked and decided not to index it, often because it's thin or very similar to other pages.
- "Duplicate": Google chose another page as the main version.
- Blocked: a setting is telling Google to stay away.
Thin, near-identical suburb pages are a common cause. See how to build suburb pages that rank.
