Suburb pages work when each one is genuinely useful to someone in that suburb. Pages that copy the same text and swap the suburb name are what Google calls doorway pages, and they can hurt rather than help.
Which suburbs to build first
- Where you already get the best jobs.
- Where you want more work and can reach quickly.
- Where people actually search for your service. Google's autocomplete is a quick check: type "your service + suburb" and see if it suggests it.
Start with five to ten. Add more once those rank.
What makes a suburb page useful
- The nearby suburbs you also cover from there.
- Typical jobs in that area, such as older homes needing rewiring or new estates needing landscaping.
- Photos and short write-ups of jobs you've done there.
- Reviews from customers in that suburb, if you have them.
- How quickly you can get there, and any local knowledge that matters.
What to avoid
- Dozens of pages with identical text.
- Pages for suburbs you don't actually service.
- Listing 50 suburbs in the footer as a substitute for real pages.
- Pages that no menu or other page links to.
Link them together
Link each suburb page to your service pages and to nearby suburb pages, and link to them from an areas page. See how we do it on our own areas pages, and read how to write service pages that rank.
