How to write service pages that rank on Google

Each main service needs its own page because people search for the job, not your business. A good service page names the service and location clearly, answers the customer's questions, and makes it easy to call.

A structure that works

  1. Title tag: service + location + business name, for example "Switchboard Upgrades Joondalup | Smith Electrical".
  2. Heading: the same idea in plain words, such as "Switchboard upgrades in Joondalup and the northern suburbs".
  3. Opening paragraph: what you do, who it's for, and the main reason to choose you.
  4. Signs you need it: the problems that lead people to search.
  5. What's included and how the job works.
  6. Price guidance: a range, or what affects the price.
  7. Photos of real jobs.
  8. FAQs customers actually ask.
  9. Call to action: phone and quote form.

How long should it be?

Long enough to answer the questions properly. For most trade services that's 400 to 900 words. Padding with filler doesn't help.

Where to find the questions

  • What customers ask you on the phone.
  • Google's "People also ask" box for your service.
  • Autocomplete suggestions when you type the service name.

Link it up

Link each service page from your menu and home page, and link to it from related suburb pages and articles. See how to build suburb pages and the website checklist.
