Google Business Profile suspended or disabled: how to fix it

A suspended or disabled Google Business Profile usually means Google thinks something on it breaks its guidelines. Most suspensions can be reversed by fixing the cause and submitting an appeal with evidence that your business is real.

Common reasons for a suspension

  • Keywords in the business name. "Smith Plumbing | Emergency Plumber Joondalup" instead of your registered name.
  • Showing a home address as a shopfront. If customers don't visit you, set the profile up as a service-area business and hide the address.
  • Virtual office or PO box address. Google doesn't accept addresses where you don't operate.
  • Duplicate profiles for the same business or location.
  • Big changes in a short time, such as changing name, address and category at once.
  • Categories that don't match the business or a website that doesn't match the profile.

How to request reinstatement

  1. Fix the likely cause first. Appealing without changing anything rarely works.
  2. Open the appeals tool from the notice in your profile manager.
  3. Upload evidence: your ABN registration, a business name registration, a utility bill or lease in the business name, and photos of signage, your vehicle with branding, or your tools and workspace.
  4. Submit once and wait. Multiple appeals for the same profile can slow the review.
