Are there grants for small business websites in Australia?

Grants for websites and digital marketing do come up in Australia, but they change often. Most are run by state governments or local councils for a limited time. The reliable way to find what's open now is the business.gov.au grants finder.

Where to look

  • business.gov.au: search grants and programs by state and topic, such as "digital".
  • Your state's small business agency: for example, WA's Small Business Development Corporation, or the equivalent in your state.
  • Your local council: some councils run small business or main-street grants.
  • Industry bodies and chambers of commerce: they often share grant rounds with members.

What grants usually require

  • An ABN and a minimum time in business
  • Quotes from a supplier before you start
  • Matching funds, where you pay part of the cost
  • Evidence of what was delivered

Don't wait for a grant

Grant rounds can close quickly and many don't allow you to start work before approval. If your website is costing you work now, compare the cost of waiting with the cost of building it. Free support programs, like business advisory services, can also help.
